Over the past years, AeroVision participated in a European scientific project, funded by the Marie Curie programme of the European Commission. In our contribution to the project, called “TRuStEE: Training on Remote Sensing for Ecosystem modElling” we looked at identifying different stress factors in agricultural fields, such as waterstress and nutrientstress. In this frame, AeroVision staff Georgios Ntakos and Tamme van der Wal contributed to field trials in potato crops and Georgios analysed the data. One outcome of the research is that by using a scientific model of the plant and soil compartment, satellite data can explain a significant part of observed variability in yield. In this way, geospatial data – in this case drone or satellite imagery – contributes to better performance on farms.
