Out of almost 300 entries the FieldScout app has been awarded with a golden Dutch Interaction Award 2021 in the category Tools. The Dutch Interactive Awards (DIA) are the awards for the very best interactive work by Dutch creators.
The jury gave this statement about FieldScout: 'What you call 'connecting the dots'. FieldScout makes complex big data transparent for farmers. The tool does this in a clever way and ensures that farmers work in a more environmentally friendly and better way. In doing so, this golden work has a positive impact on the industry and on society. In short: a beautiful and impactful case'.
BioScope - subsidiary of AeroVision and LTO Bedrijven - launched FieldScout in 2020. This app gives farmers in the Netherlands access to get started with precision agriculture. Using drones and satellite images, the farmer gains more insight into the quality of his land and crops, among other things. In cooperation with app builder Uselab, the FieldScout app has come to life. The user-friendliness and accessibility of the app play an important role in the success of FieldScout, which already has more than 2000 users.
"This award underlines the success of our choice to work with Uselab", says Tamme van der Wal, partner at AeroVision and involved as director in the startup BioScope: "In such an innovative and competitive market, ease of use is an important key to success". This was also the conclusion of the survey that AeroVision carried out prior to the start-up. The technology had actually already proven itself, but many services could not make the translation to daily agricultural practice enough. "We always start from the user. Technology or an invention only catches on when it becomes available to the user in an accessible way." AeroVision works according to the self-developed innovation-implementation model in which not only the invention but also the demand, and the form are taken into account.
"We are very happy that we have been able to take this step together with LTO Companies," said van der Wal. "And that Uselab has been able to realise these ideas. We are very proud that the Dutch IT industry recognizes this with this award."
